WILLY LASZLO

Before his career in film, Willy’s background stretches back to Chicago theatre. He trained in acting and improvisation with the Steven Ivcich Studio, Annoyance Theatre, ImprovOlympic, and the Second City. Willy’s live performances all over the city with the improv group, “My Shins”, led to his making independent films with top Chicago talents. Laszlo’s experience producing short comedy films on weekends helped him land a job shooting and directing local cable commercials.

As his directing experience grew, so did his list of awards for productions in cable and independent film. Screenings of the comedy shorts throughout local comedy clubs and film festivals introduced Willy to the greater film community. He co-founded the Chicago Short Comedy Video and Film Festival, and helmed the event from 1998-2004. In recent years, the fest has become one of the city’s most prominent film festivals. Laszlo moved to Los Angeles in late 2004 and currently works in television and film.
